I recently had a brief moan on the crusty sandwich about design. Modern ‘design’ is mostly bad. A portion of it is mind blowing. A lot of it is un necessary. The best is simple, functional and makes you say “why did I not think of that.” It could be argued that the key is a dying technology. Well what better way to celebrate its history? I have work keys, house keys, car keys, letter box keys and safe keys. I would like to say I have boat keys but I think that that may be a few years off. Keys are a pain in the pocket. If you carry your keys in the back pocket I guess you could say they are a pain in the arse! This as a design solution is not perfect but it does address a real problem. It identifies which key is for what door. The blank key system they have chosen can also be purchased in a light weight colour coded blank adding another useful layer to this design solution. Although I can see no mention of this on their web site.
The only fault I can find with this is there is not a lot of selection. I guess like any start up they have had to start some where. Well done.
I am going to coin this one a ‘3/4 solution to a real problem’. It gets three quarters because if they were serious about design solutions they would have addressed the whole key/lock situation.
Think I am being to tough? What if there was no light to see the key or the lock?

Hi – really great site you have established. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to write a remark to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically pleasing. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor in chief for a merchandising firm. I have always enjoyed functioning with computing machines and am attempting to learn computer code in my free time (which there is never enough of lol).
